Avaya 3100 Mobile Communicator - Client for BlackBerry User Guide 45
Call Intercept
The Avaya 3100 Mobile Communicator can intercept calls made from the native BlackBerry dialer, so that
calls can go through the Avaya 3100 Mobile Communicator Gateway. Use the IM/Call Settings pane to
control use of the native BlackBerry dialer. The pane displays the status of the feature. Select the Call
Intercept entry to toggle the feature.
• When Call Intercept on displays, the Avaya 3100 Mobile Communicator Gateway intercepts calls
made from the native BlackBerry dialer.
• When Call Intercept off displays, calls route from the native BlackBerry dialer without Avaya 3100
Mobile Communicator Gateway interaction.
Dialing a number
1. Navigate to the Phone pane.
2. Dial the extension or Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) number of the contact.
3. To place a Call-me-First call, select Menu, Call Me First.
4. To place a Direct Outbound mode call, press the green call button or select Menu, Call < number>.
5. To call from an alternate number,
a. Select Menu, Call From.
b. Select a number from the list or enter a new number.
c. Press the green call button or select Menu, Call.
The system places the call.

The Phone pane provides an abbreviated history of your recent call activity, known as the Quick Dial list.
For example, if you call a contact seven times during the week, you can find a record of your last call on
the Quick Dial list.
Calling a number on the Quick Dial list
1. Navigate to the Phone pane.
2. Scroll through the Quick Dial list and highlight a record.
3. To place a Call-me-First call, select Menu, Call Me First.
4. To place a Direct Outbound mode call, press the green call button or select Menu, Call < number>.
