Network
Connection
Use the radio buttons to select a network
connection type:
• Internal BES: The Avaya 3100 MC - Client
connects to the Avaya 3100 Mobile
Communicator Gateway using a BlackBerry
Enterprise Server (BES) located on the
enterprise network.
• External BES: The Avaya 3100 MC - Client
connects to the Avaya 3100 Mobile
Communicator Gateway using a hosted BES
located on the Internet.
• Non BES: The Avaya 3100 MC - Client
connects directly to the Avaya 3100 Mobile
Communicator Gateway over the internet.
Note: If you are using the Avaya 3100 MC -
Client in a non-BES or an external-BES
environment, your system administrator may
instruct you to install a security certificate and
configure the Access Point Name (APN)
parameters on your BlackBerry device. You
can use the BlackBerry Desktop Manager to
install the certificate, and program the APN in
the TCP section of your BlackBerry’s advanced
settings. Your system administrator will provide
you with detailed instructions to complete these
tasks.
Mobile Contact Enter your mobile phone number or accept the
autopopulated value.
Recommended number format:
+XX YYY ZZZ ZZZZ
Where:
+ = International access code
XX = Country code
YYY = Area code
ZZZ ZZZZ = Local number
Include the international access code and country
code only if you are directed to by your system
administrator.
The mobile contact number is your default number
for incoming and outgoing calls. If you want to use
another number for this purpose, such as your
home number, configure it on the Owner
Information pane.
