About This Guide
If you are responsible for configuring and managing Bay Networks
™
routers, you
should read this guide to learn how to customize Bay Networks router software
for bridging services.
This guide offers details on configuring
• Transparent bridging services (Chapter
1)
• Source routing bridge services (Chapter
2)
• NetBIOS services (Chapter
3)
• Translation bridge services (Chapter
4)
• Native mode LAN (NML) services (Chapter
5)
Before You Begin
Before using this guide, complete the following procedures. For a new router:
• Install the router (refer to the installation manual that came with your router).
• Connect the router to the network and create a pilot configuration file (refer to
Quick-Starting Routers and BNX Platforms
,
Connecting BayStack AN and
ANH Systems to a Network
, or
Connecting ASN Routers and BNX Platforms
to a Network)
.
• Make sure that you are running the latest version of Bay Networks Site
Manager and router software (refer to
Upgrading Routers from Version
7–10.xx to Version 11.0)
.
• Create and save a configuration file that has at least one bridging interface
(refer to
Configuring Routers
).
• Retrieve the configuration file in local, remote, or dynamic mode.
• Reboot the router with the configuration file.
