Setting the Hello Interval
The Hello interval specifies how often the local router sends PIM Hello messages
on this PIM interface to neighboring routers in the PIM domain. PIM routers
periodically send Hello messages so that PIM neighbors can discover each other.
Hello messages are multicast using address 224.0.0.13 (all PIM routers group)
and are sent on all communication links.
By default, the local router sends Hello messages on this PIM interface every 30
seconds. You can set the value from 1 through 2,147,483,647 seconds. Bay
Networks recommends a higher value for slower-speed serial lines.
To specify the Hello interval, complete the following tasks:

4. Choose
Interface

parameter. Click on

page A-51.
6. Click on
OK
. You return to the Configuration Manager
window.
