playback MMF An MMF used by an application to speak named vocabulary elements
over the phone line.

PLC Phone Line Controller.
The TMS software process the low-level actions necessary to
answer the telephone, process touch-tones, and provide timing
and state changes for telephone line events.
The TMS hardware containing the telephone connections and
running PLC software.
PLC (both hardware and software) varies to support analog or digital
interfaces. The analog version of PLC is VPLC; the digital version of
PLC is TPLC.

PLM Phone Line Manager. The VOS software process responsible for
managing all Avaya MPS telephone line processing and control
functions. Telephone management functions include call answering,
call transfer, touchtone processing, recording and playback mode
control, etc.
PLM, in conjunction with PLC, the telephony hardware (VPLC,
TPLC, resource cards), and firmware, provide all telephony-oriented
processing and control functions. They also manage run-time
telephone functions.
PLM also manages a number of TMS initialization functions. These
include firmware and configuration parameters for physical interfaces
and resources that perform voice processing functions within the
system.
