VOS Voice Operating Software. The group of main system software
functions required to run the Avaya MPS system. VOS processes are
MPS-specific. That is, one instance of this process group is required
for each MPS defined on a UNIX node.
VOS processes include ALARMD, CLP, COMMGR, CONOUT,
CPSIO, PLM, SMP, UTIMER, VMT, VSTAT, and ECD.
For additional information, see the Avaya MPS System Reference
Manual.

UTIMER, VMT, ECD, UNIX node, process.
VOS Statistics Daemon See STATD.
VPC Voice Processing Controller. The hardware that manages the voice
processing bus and associated components. It also moves voice data
(that is, recorded vocabulary elements) from voice data memory into
the line cards for speech output. The VPC also controls the reverse
process called Caller Message Recording (CMR). The VPC moves
control and status information between the line card and PLM.
See also CMR, PLM, vocabulary element, VDM, line card.
VPLC Voice Phone Line Controller/Card. PLC (both hardware and
software) for analog telephone line interfaces.
Contrast with TPLC.
