Glossary of Avaya MPS Series Terminology dual-line referral

dual-line referral A method of connecting a caller to a third party using two phone

lines. Dual-line referral is generally used only on digital systems.

In a dual-line referral:

1. A caller dials into the MPS.

2. The MPS out dials to the referral target on a separate line. The

MPS establishes a bridge between the caller and the referral target.

In other words, the caller is connected to the referral target through

the MPS.

3. The MPS maintains the bridge (connection) between the caller and

the referral target until the call is finished.
