network timeout The user-definable time period allowed for a network entity to
respond to a request. This time period is applied to the tree structure
displayed in the PeriView work space.

node A machine that supports the Avaya MPS or a logical entity of the
Avaya MPS network. Each node consists of the cpu/computer and
MPS software process. Multiple MPSs can be configured for a single
node.

non-conversational A method of speaking numeric data where:
• each character (or digit) in the string is spoken as an individual
item; for example, “123” is spoken “one two three”
• space characters are ignored
• digit characters are translated into the vocabulary phrases “zero,”
“one,” “two,” ..., “nine”
• Letters are case sensitive and translated to the items: “A,” “B,” ...,
“Z,” “a,” “b,” ..., “z”
• symbols (for example, “&”, “^”, “*”) are self-representing in
terms of vocabulary phrase labels
• All digits, letters and symbols will be spoken exactly as recorded
in their MMF files
For example, the string R2D2 is spoken as “är tö d tö.”
