SNMP Simple Network Management Protocol. It provides a means of
monitoring and controlling Avaya MPS functions and administration
by sending status messages about the network and attached devices,
through the use of third-party products which support the protocol.

soft termination The delayed method of ending the execution of an application. When
you execute a soft termination, the application terminates either after
the currently processing call completes its execution cycle or when
the kill timer parameter expires (whichever comes first).
Use the APPMAN Terminate/Un-Assign Lines tool to define the
termination type. Use the APPMAN Configure Applications tool to
configure the kill timer interval.
Contrast with hard termination.

SPARC Scalable Processor Architecture. The microprocessor designed and
marketed by Sun Microsystems. Most Avaya MPS systems are based
on the SPARC platform.
span A single digital connection. For domestic (T1) systems, each span can
support 24 phone lines. For European (E1) systems, each span can
support 30 phone lines.

speak as Refers to the manner an application speaks the contents of a numeric
data card. The application can speak as conversational, non-
conversational, date, time, money, ordinal, or percent.
