In Figure 9-3, for example, the following events occur on the IGMP Relay device:
1. The IGMP Relay device sends IGMP host membership queries out the
interfaces to LAN A, LAN B, and LAN C.
2. Host 1 on LAN A responds to the query by sending an IGMP host
membership response to the IGMP Relay device.
3. IGMP Relay forwards the IGMP host membership response to the IP
multicast router.
