Using Site Manager
Complete the tasks in the following table to set the SMT Connection Policy.
Specifying the Neighbor Notification Interval
Neighbor information frames (NIFs) identify the upstream and downstream
neighbors of each node. A Bay Networks station issues a response to the sender of
a NIF frame and generates NIF requests as part of the neighbor notification
process.
You can set the interval between successful iterations of the Neighbor Notification
Protocol on an interface to a value from 2 to 30 seconds. By default, the interval is
22 seconds. This interval:
Determines the MAC addresses of the upstream and downstream neighbors
Site Manager Procedure
You do this System responds
1. In the Configuration Manager window,
choose a FDDI Connector
.
The Edit Connector window opens.
2. Choose Edit Line. The Edit FDDI Parameters window
opens.
3. Choose Expert. The FDDI Advanced Attributes window
opens.
4. Choose SMT Attributes. The FDDI SMT Attributes window opens.
5. Set the Connection Policy parameter.
Click on Help or see the parameter
description on page A-6.
6. Click on OK. Site Manager returns you to the FDDI
Advanced Attributes window.
7. Click on Done. Site Manager returns you to the Edit
Connector window.
8. Click on Done. Site Manager returns you to the
Configuration Manager window.
