6. The AN/ANH gets a software image from its local ﬁle system, an IP address

from the upstream router, and the customized configuration file from the

BOOTP server. (Described in Cha

pter 1; no action required.)

If the conﬁguration ﬁle meets your network requirements, the AN/ANH starts

bridging and routing trafﬁc.

You can use the Site Manager Statistics Manager and Events Manager tools to

verify that the router is routing trafﬁc according to the conﬁguration you want.

Netboot

Completing the Netboot option requires the following steps:

1. You use the Conﬁguration Manager in local mode to create a complete

conﬁguration ﬁle for the AN/ANH. (See Cha

pter 4 and Conﬁguring Routers.)

2. You set up a UNIX workstation on the network to support BOOTP.

(See Cha

pter 3.)

3. You use Site Manager to enable BOOTP on each router interface in the path

between the AN/ANH and the BOOTP server. (See Cha

pter 4.)

4. You ensure that there is a network connection from a synchronous or Ethernet

interface on the AN/ANH to the upstream router.

5. The person at the AN/ANH site establishes a Technician Interface session, or

you establish a session via modem. (See the hardware Installing and Starting

guide for the AN or ANH.)

6. The person at the AN/ANH console uses the

bconﬁg and ifconﬁg commands

to conﬁgure a synchronous or Ethernet interface. (See Cha

pter 5 and the

hardware Installing and Starting guide for the AN or ANH.)

7. You install the netboot.exe ﬁle in the BOOTP server’s ﬁle system, and make

sure the image and application ﬁles reside in the same directory.

Note: If the AN/ANH will connect to the upstream router using a Frame Relay

circuit, be sure the upstream router is running Router Software Version 7.71 or

higher.
