Transferring a Conﬁguration File to the Router

The Router Files Manager lets you transfer ﬁles between the Site Manager

workstation and any Bay Networks router using TFTP. You must transfer a

conﬁguration ﬁle that has been conﬁgured and saved in local mode to the router

before you can reboot the router with it.

To transfer ﬁles from the Site Manager workstation to a router, you must do the

following:

1. Choose the router to which you want to transfer the ﬁle.

2. Examine the existing ﬁlenames on the router destination volume.

3. Verify that adequate free space exists on the destination volume.

4. Transfer the ﬁle to the destination volume.

The following sections describe these tasks.

Choosing a Router

To choose the router to which you want to transfer the ﬁle, follow these steps from

the Router Files Manager window:

1. Select Options➔Router Connection from the Router Files Manager

window.

Caution: The destination system in a ﬁle transfer automatically overwrites

any ﬁle already on its volume that has the same ﬁlename. If enough space does

not exist on the ﬁle system for the new ﬁle, and the new ﬁle has the same name

as an old ﬁle, the old ﬁle will be destroyed and the new ﬁle will be corrupted.

This is because TFTP copies the new ﬁle over the old and runs out of space

before completing the copy. Be sure to follow the instructions in this section to

avoid corrupting the conﬁg ﬁle.
