Chapter 1

Using the Conﬁguration Manager

This chapter provides an overview of the Conﬁguration Manager. It also describes

the router conﬁguration functions you can perform using this tool, explains the

three operating modes (local, remote, and dynamic), and how to start and operate

the Conﬁguration Manager in each mode.

Router Conﬁguration Functions

The Conﬁguration Manager provides remote router conﬁguration functions.

Speciﬁcally, it lets you

• Add network interfaces to the router based on defaults.

• Customize network interfaces for your network environment.

• Specify the router’s hardware conﬁguration.

• Conﬁgure the router’s connection to the Technician Interface.

• Specify administrative information about the router.

Adding Network Interfaces

The Conﬁguration Manager simpliﬁes router conﬁguration by providing default

values for most of the parameters required to conﬁgure an interface. Chapter 2

describes how to add network interfaces.
