Setting the Retransmit Interval
The retransmit interval is the number of seconds between link-state advertisement
retransmissions for adjacencies belonging to this interface.
Each type of network has an optimum retransmit interval. If the interface is
connected to a broadcast network, we suggest you use the default setting of 5
seconds. We suggest the following settings for network types supported by OSPF:
You can use the BCC or Site Manager to specify a retransmit interval.
Using the BCC
Navigate to an interface-specific OSPF prompt and enter
retransmission-interval
interval
interval is the number of seconds between retransmissions.
For example, the following command specifies an OSPF retransmission interval
of 10 seconds for IP interface 2.2.2.2.
ospf/2.2.2.2# retransmission-interval 10
ospf/2.2.2.2#
Network Type Suggested Retransmit Interval
Broadcast 5 seconds (default)
Point-to-point 10 seconds
NBMA 10 seconds
Point-to-multipoint 10 seconds
