Configuring an Ethernet Interface for Network Booting
To configure an ASN Ethernet interface for network booting, use the following
command format:
ifconfig
[
-s
<slot no.>
] [
-d
]
<interface>
[
<IP address> <subnet mask>
]
Table 4-3 describes the
ifconfig
command arguments for configuring the routers
Ethernet interface.
Table 4-3. ifconfig Command Settings for an Ethernet Interface
Setting Description
Slot Setting
-s
<slot no.>
Specifies the slot containing the interface you want to configure. The
slot corresponds to the ASN slot ID, which can be 1 through 4. If you
omit this argument,
ifconfig
uses the current slot.
Default Setting
-d
Resets the router’s IP interface settings to the default values.
Resetting an Ethernet interface makes it inactive in the network
booting process. (The output of the
getcfg
command shows the
default as “None.”)
IP Connector Setting
<interface>
Specifies the IP connector you are configuring.
Use
xcvr

IP Address Settings
<IP address>
Specifies the IP address of the interface you set with
<interface>
.
Provide this address in dotted decimal notation.

Specifies the IP subnet mask of the interface you set with
