Defining an IPX Network Number and Node Number for a Remote Peer

Site Manager lets you specify an IPX network number and an IPX node number

that you want the remote peer to use. The interface uses these numbers in its NCP

negotiations.

Enter the IPX network number for the remote peer to use. There is no default

value; you can enter any unique, valid, unreserved IPX network number,

consisting of a string of up to eight hexadecimal characters. The value 0xffffffff is

invalid.

The negotiated network number must be unique. It cannot be a previously

assigned network number. Note that both sides of the link do not have to have the

same network number; PPP negotiates the higher of the two numbers. In addition,

the negotiated IPX network number can be 0 on both sides of the link. In this case,

IPX defines the link’s network number.

Be aware that the value for this parameter depends on the IPX configuration for

this interface. For information about IPX and PPP interaction, refer to Configuring

IPX Services.

If you want to specify an IPX node number for the remote peer to use, enter it

here. The interface uses this IPX remote node number in its NCP negotiations.

To specify an IPX network number and remote node number, do the tasks in the

following table.
