option:
For example, -i 48:1 specifies an identification field of length 48, starting from the
beginning of the message. Alternatively, identification fields for requests can be
assigned by applications (using -i) or by the daemon (by using -I instead).
Instead of an offset, the location of the ID field in the message can also be specified by
a identification string which precedes the ID. To define this option use a command line
argument:
-i len@string or -I len@string
instead of -i len:pos or -I len:pos. The string can be any set of ASCII
characters except 0x00. Unprintable characters may be represented in hexadecimal as
0xXX. For example, -i 4@abc0x010x02 specifies that the ID field in a message is
located right after a string "abcXY", where in this example X and Y are binary values
of 1 and 2 respectively.
Format of Outgoing and Incoming Messages
Typically, the header format is the same for both outgoing and incoming messages. If
formats differ, then options -f and -i are applied to outgoing messages only, while
new options -F and -j should be used to specify the format of incoming messages. If
either of -F or -j options is omitted, the format is defined by corresponding option -
f or -i.
