Avaya VTCPD Configuration and Options
P0602483 Ver: 03.41 Page 37
During the interval between acquiring the resource (GET) and when the resource is
released (FREE), the slot is reserved for that application line. If the size of the slot
pool is limited, it might be necessary to reserve the slot for a shorter period of time.
Using the SEND and/or RECEIVE requests releases the slot as soon as the host data
arrives, freeing up the slot quicker than if the GET, FREE operation combination was
used.
If permanent slot allocation is not desired, use the configuration option -m I. This
allows the application to execute the FREE request to provide slot release and still
permits dynamic slot allocation for each SEND and/or RECEIVE.
Application-Host Options
vtcpd [-m [d] [{a|n}] [{l|L}] [{I|R}]]
Args: -m d Allows a host reply to come from any connection. Normally, a reply
arrives from the host through the connection used to send the
request. Using this option can increase the time used for internal
message processing by Avaya VTCPD.
-m a Specifies asynchronous data delivery. When Avaya VTCPD receives
a host data response and an application RECEIVE request has not
been sent to Avaya VTCPD, Avaya VTCPD sends to the application
the condition unexdata along with the host data response.
-m n Specifies asynchronous data notification. When Avaya VTCPD
receives a host data response and an application RECEIVE request
has not been sent to Avaya VTCPD. However, the application does
not accept host data before it sends its RECEIVE request. Avaya
VTCPD holds the host data (for the application) and delivers the host
data after the application sends its RECEIVE request.
-m l Requires Avaya VTCPD to route the application replies on the same
link that the host commands were received on. This option is intended
for environments where there is one host, and host commands drive
the application. This cannot be used in environments where other
host requests can arrive before the application sends its reply to a
host command. (See -m L below.)
-m L Requires Avaya VTCPD to route the application replies on the
particular link that is specified by the applications. This is intended for
environments where multiple hosts send requests while an application
is still processing a prior request. This option instructs Avaya VTCPD
to prepend each message with 12 ASCII bytes in the format
XXX:YYY:ZZZ, which denotes the connection number, slot number,
and Avaya VTCPD port number. The application reply to Avaya
VTCPD contains a prepended header that instructs Avaya VTCPD to
deliver the reply on a particular link.
-m I Specifies that when an application executes a GET request, the slot is
not reserved. Slots are allocated dynamically in this mode.
-m R Specifies that when an application executes a GET request, the slot is
reserved until it is freed. Slots are allocated on a round robin basis.
