Sending a Copy of the Forwarding Table to the Log
You can specify that you want to store a copy of the MAC addresses on the bridge
interface or in the bridge’s forwarding table sent to the router’s log. You may want
a record of the MAC addresses for troubleshooting purposes, for example.
To send a copy of the MAC addresses to the log, navigate to the interface bridge
prompt and enter:
log-mac-address
<setting>
setting
is one of the following:
local
forward-table
none
The local setting sends the addresses stored locally on the bridge to the log. The
forward-table setting sends the addresses stored in the forwarding table to the log.
After it sends the addresses, the system automatically reverts to the
none setting.
For example, the following command sends a copy of the MAC addresses stored
in the bridge’s forwarding table to the router log:
bridge/ethernet/2/1# log-mac-address forward-table
