Configuring Transparent Bridging and Spanning Tree Using the BCC
117351-B Rev. 00
6-11
To reenable transparent bridging on the router, navigate to the global bridge
prompt and enter:
state enabled
For example, the following command reenables transparent bridging on the router:
bridge#
state enabled
Managing the Forwarding Table
The transparent bridge’s forwarding table stores information about the source
addresses for frames that the bridge transmits. The following sections describe
parameters that you can set to manage the amount of memory that the forwarding
table uses, allow access to the forwarding table from the MIB, and clear the
forwarding table of all entries.
You can also specify that the contents of the forwarding table be sent to the
routers log. See
Sending a Copy of the Forwarding Table to the Log” on page
6-14 for instructions.
Managing the Amount of Memory that the Forwarding Table Uses
You can specify the maximum number of MAC address entries allowed in the
transparent bridge’s forwarding table. If you increase the number of table entries,
the bridge is more efficient but uses more memory. By default, the forwarding
table size is 1024 entries.
To change the forwarding table size, navigate to the global bridge prompt and
enter:
forward-table-size
<size>
size
is the maximum number of MAC address entries allowed in the forwarding
table and must be one of the following values:
1024
2048
4096
Note:
If you change the size of the forwarding table, the bridge disables itself
and then reenables itself, thereby deleting all previously learned addresses.
