Specifying a Holddown Period
Once RIP has determined that a network is unreachable, RIP continues to
advertise a route to that network for a default holddown period of 90 seconds.
If you have enabled dial-optimized routing on this interface, the default is 3 hours.
You can use the BCC or Site Manager to specify a holddown period between 15
seconds and 259,200 seconds (72 hours). For dial-optimized routing, the
maximum value is 3,628,800 seconds (6 weeks).
Using the BCC
Navigate to a RIP interface-specific prompt and enter:
holddown-timer
seconds
seconds is the holddown period expressed in seconds.
For example, the following command sets the holddown timer to 60 seconds on IP
interface 2.2.2.2:
rip/2.2.2.2# holddown-timer 60
rip/2.2.2.2#
