Setting up Enterprise Edge Message
Networking
Introduction
Setting up your Enterprise Edge Message Networking site on a network involves:
• setting up your Local Network parameters
• setting the General Networking features
• setting up the Network Site Table
This section describes how to set up your Enterprise Edge Voice Messaging system
for Network Messaging.
Setting up your Local Network parameters
Setting up your Local Network parameters involves:
• setting up the Fully Qualified Domain Name of your SMTP proxy (if
applicable)
• choosing a Local Mailbox Prefix for your site
Setting up the Fully Qualified Domain Name of your SMTP proxy
Before Enterprise Edge Message Networking can be used, you must find out from
the Network Administrator whether or not the network has an SMTP proxy. SMTP
proxies restrict access to a company’s internal network from the Internet. A proxy
provides network security and prevents unauthorized access.
If the network has an SMTP proxy, you must set up the domain name of the SMTP
proxy of your site. Contact your Network Administrator for more information.
The domain name of the SMTP proxy can be a maximum of 128 characters and
must be made up of alphanumeric characters. The domain name cannot have any
spaces or punctuation except for characters such as periods, dashes or underscores
that are part of the name.
If the network has a direct connection to the Internet, the network does not have an
SMTP proxy and you can leave this parameter at the default.
