Preface

The second Ethernet adapter module provides for additional LAN segmentation,

enabling customers to connect to an external DSL or cable modem. This module

supports link speeds of up to 10 Mbps.

Before You Begin

This guide is intended for qualified service personnel who are installing the

second Ethernet adapter module in a Passport 2430 for the first time, or who need

to replace the module. A qualified service person should have appropriate

technical training and experience and be aware of the hazards involved in

installing customer-replaceable units (CRUs).

Before using this guide, you must complete the following procedures. For a new

Passport 2430 multiservice access switch:

• Install the Passport 2430 (see Installing and Operating the Passport 2430

Multiservice Access Switch).

• Connect the switch to the network and create a pilot configuration file (see

Installing and Operating the Passport 2430 Multiservice Access Switch).

Make sure that you are running the latest version of Nortel Networks BayRS

and

Site Manager software. For information about upgrading BayRS and Site

Manager, see the upgrading guide for your version of BayRS.
