IP Ping
When you ping a remote device using IP, the ping program residing on the router
sends an Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) echo request to the remote
address you specify in the IP Ping window. The remote device responds to the
routers request if it can be reached. A window then opens showing the response
or the result of the request.
To ping a remote device running IP:
1. In the Site Manager main window, choose Administration >
Ping from Router > IP.
The IP Ping window opens (Figure 11-2)
.

2.
In the IP Address field, type the IP address of the remote device.
3. In the Timeout field, type the number of seconds after which the ping
should time out.
If the router receives a response to a ping after the ping has timed out, it does
not send an alive message to Site Manager.
4. In the Retries field, type the number of successive times the router should
repeat the ping.
The router does not wait for the timeout before it sends the next ping.
